INFORMAZIONI UNIVERSITARIE

Il Consiglio Universitario Nazionale, evidenziando che la mancanza di risorse di cui soffre l’università italiana pregiudica il raggiungimento degli obiettivi europei, lancia l’allarme in una lettera indirizzata alla Commissione cultura e istruzione del Parlamento Europeo: «Italy’s public expenditure on research and development is considerably lower than the average for OECD countries and has been cut drastically, especially since 2009. There has been a 20% reduction in academic and administrative staff numbers, and fewer researchers naturally mean a lower innovation potential. The low numbers of young Italians who actually graduate is also of concern, especially given the constant fall in University enrolments. Despite this, Italian researchers are acknowledged as performing well in comparison with Europe, but their low numbers preclude achievement of the objectives set for Italy in compliance with the principles set forth in the international agreements».
